Reed Family Racing returned to Huntsville Speedway this weekend looking to measure progress, and the No. 52 team did exactly that.
After evaluating the team's previous visit to the Alabama oval, Logan Conner and the Reed Family Racing crew arrived with two straightforward objectives: improve their pace and bring the race car home in one piece.
From the opening practice session, it was clear the team had taken a step forward. Logan showed speed early and continued improving throughout the night. In the second practice session, the No. 52 machine posted the seventh-fastest lap on the speed charts, giving the team confidence heading into qualifying.
Qualifying proved to be the most challenging part of the evening. Logan admitted he was a bit too conservative in his approach, resulting in a starting position that didn't accurately reflect the speed the team had shown during practice. Fortunately, the feature race provided an opportunity to recover.
Once the green flag waved, Logan settled into a rhythm and methodically clicked off consistent laps. Avoiding issues and keeping the car clean, he maintained momentum throughout the race before taking the checkered flag in fifth place. For the team, the finish was only part of the story.
"We had two goals when we came here," Conner said after the race. "One was to be faster than the last time we were on track and to bring the car back in one piece. We did both of those things, so I'm pretty happy about that."
The fifth-place finish marks another positive step in the team's first full Bandolero season. More importantly, it demonstrated continued growth for both driver and team as they gain experience against tough competition.
While there is still work to be done, Huntsville Speedway provided another encouraging sign that the No. 52 program is moving in the right direction. But now the focus is back onto Highland Rim Speedway.
